Introduction: Atsushi Iida

Atsushi Iida 飯田敦史 is currently a doctoral candidate in the Composition & TESOL program at Indiana University of Pennsylvania.  After taking his BA degree in Literature (English Literature) at Aoyama Gakuin Univeristy, Tokyo in Japan, he has studied TESOL (Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages) at Indiana University of Pennsylvania, Indiana PA.  He received his MA degree  in English (TESOL focus) in 2007 and has pursued his doctoral degree (Composition & TESOL focus) since he finished the MA program.

Atsushi’s research field includes second language writing, creative writing, English haiku, CALL (Computer Assisted Language Learning), learner autonomy and learner strategies.   If you are interested in his academic work, click here to read his journal articles.

Atsushi is now working on his dissertation.  His main focus is second language writing.  The goal of this study is to examine the contribution of writing English haiku to academic English writing in ESL/EFL contexts.  Click here to read his dissertation work.  

Atsushi loves teaching.  Teaching is his life.  He has taught both English and Japanese in different contexts.

自己紹介: 飯田敦史

私は、現在、ペンシルバニア州立インディアナ大学の博士号取得候補生として、博士論文を執筆中です。専門は、第2言語ライティング。特に、日本の文化である俳句にとても興味を持っています。青山学院大学にて学士号（文学）を取得後、アメリカに渡米。ペンシルバニア州立インディアナ大学の修士課程に入学、修士号を取得、そして現在に至ります。アメリカ生活は5年目になりますが、その間、同大学で日本語を3年間教えていました。また、英語学科の大学作文クラス、リサーチライティングのクラスでチューターとして働いています。

私の研究分野は、第2言語ライティング、クリエイティブライティング、俳句、学習者の自律心、学習方略、コンピュータ使用の言語学習、英語教授法、日本語教授法です。アメリカの大学、そして日本の語学学校で日本語を教えていることもあり、英語に限らず日本語も研究しています。
